Man on way to help girlfriend after car crash gets into separate accident

WINTERVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A man gets hit by another car while on his way to help girlfriend, who was in a separate accident.
The Highway Patrol says it happened just after midnight in Winterville, North Carolina.
Troopers say a man driving was on the phone with his girlfriend, who had been in an accident, when he noticed a stop sign. The driver ran the stop sign and ended up in a bean field.
Troopers say when the driver tried to get back on the road, he hit another oncoming car.
