Man climbs onto overpass, shuts down Thruway temporarily

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police were forced to shut down the Thruway temporarily on Thursday night as they worked to talk down a person who climbed onto an overpass.
Officers say a man climbed onto the Route 60 overpass in Dunkirk, just outside the safety fence. Police described the man as “despondent” and said he stood on a ledge that passed over the interstate road.
