License plate reader rules released by Erie County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- Erie County has released it’s policy on keeping all the data collected by police license plate readers.
In late August, News 4 took an in depth look at how a State Police car captured license plates of almost every car it passed, even at fifty miles per hour, and red flagged certain plates with expired registration.
In March, attorney Dan Ward demanded to know what Erie County’s policy is for this personal information. It took a few months but he got his answer.
