Lawmakers pass Erie County budget with tax rate decrease

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The budget for 2016 passed unanimously in Erie County, lawmakers announced on Tuesday.
Amendments include a slightly reduced tax rate in the coming year for the second year in a row. In 2016, the tax rate will dip from $4.99 to $4.96 per thousand of assessed value.
The spending plan will also protect county services and fund various community programs.
