Lawmaker looks to improve sex offender notification
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- The information is out there, but people have to go looking for it.
That’s what a resolution by Common Council President Darius Pridgen would try to change when it comes to neighbors being notified whenever a registered sex offender moves into a neighborhood.
Currently, the NY State Sex Offender Registry, can be found on line and is updated on a regular basis, but public agencies are not required to issue notices to people who live near registered offenders.
