Inaugural week for the first female fire chief in Niagara County

SANBORN, N.Y. (WIVB) – Niagara County’s first female fire chief is officially at her post.
On January 1st, Tammy Snelgrove stepped into her new role. She’s the chief of the Pekin Fire Company.
“It’s a big challenge, but I’m excited,” she said.
The mother of two has been a firefighter for the past decade. She’s worked her way up the ranks as the fourth assistant fire chief, third, second, and first. Then last December, she was elected as fire chief.
