Ice boom not likely to open before Easter

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The International Niagara Board of Control says it is not likely that the ice boom on Lake Erie will be open before Sunday.
The opening of the ice boom has not started yet due to heavy ice covering the eastern side of the lake.
The latest time in the year that the ice boom was ever opened was May 3 in 1971.
