Historic carousel gets funding boost
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)- A unique piece of local history is getting one step closer to landing at Buffalo’s waterfront.
The Menagerie-style Herschell-Spillman carousel was built by workers in North Tonawanda in 1924, and is slated to go at Canalside by 2017.
But first, it will need to be restored, and that comes with a hefty price tag.
Assemblyman Sean Ryan secured a $600,000 state capital grant to help. It’s part of an overall plan for the waterfront.
