Hail 101: How it forms and why it matters

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Five warned severe thunderstorms rolled through Western New York yesterday, affecting most of the region. Storm reports included hail up to 1.75" in diameter and winds up to 60 mph that snapped power poles and uprooted trees.1.75 inch hail was seen in Warsaw, 1.25" was seen in Pavillion, and 1" was seen in Strykersville. There was enough to damage cars and gardens.
