‘Gap year’ becoming trend among US students

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Yale University and many of the Ivy League schools actually recommend that students take a gap year. It’s basically a year-long break between high school and college.
It’s a relatively new concept here in the United States — over the last decade or so. It originated in Great Britain years ago. The idea behind it was to give young people the chance to travel and experience new cultures.
