Erie County setting a new trap for tax deadbeats

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Erie County is auctioning off about 50 foreclosed properties next month in an unusual move to try to catch dead-beat tax offenders off guard.
County officials are trying to turn the tables on property owners that they say “game the system”–wait until just before their property is auctioned off to pay the back taxes, then file bankruptcy which stops the sale in its tracks.
