Deputy Fire Commissioner suddenly steps down

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) –Deputy Buffalo Fire Commissioner Joseph Tomizzi resigned Tuesday, and the rank and file are wondering why.
Mayor Byron brown appointed Tomizzi as one of two Deputy Fire Commissioners in August of 2011. He had been the head of the Arson Investigation Unit until then, but last year became the target of the firefighters union which accused him of running a background check on a co-worker without cause.
