Crews pull stranded miners 800 feet from NY salt mine
ITHACA, N.Y. (WIVB) — For more than 10 hours, 17 men sat huddled in a steel elevator, suspended more than 1500 feet off the floor of the deepest salt mine in the country.
Just about 800 feet above them, a small crew from a local company, engineered their only way back to the surface.
