Batavia man found with dead cat cooking in oven sentenced to probation

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Batavia man found with a dead cat cooking in his oven was sentenced to five years of probation.
Before he was arrested in July, Darren Annovi, 42, had no criminal record.
Firefighters say they saw light smoke everywhere when they entered his E. Main St. home. The cause of the smoke was determined to be the cat.
According to Wendy Castleman, who works with Volunteers for Animals, Annovi “willfully put his pet cat into a hot oven and killed it.
