Amherst man gets 6 months for fatal hit-and-run

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- An Amherst man received a split sentence of six months in jail followed by five years of probation Monday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run earlier this year, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
According to officials, 40-year-old Matthew Althoff was driving westbound on Losson Road in Cheektowaga around 7:21 p.m. on Jan.15 when he hit a pedestrian. He left the scene without reporting the incident to police.The victim, 41-year-old Antwain Hankle, wa
