Americans racked up billions in overdraft charges last year

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Americans have racked up billions of dollars worth of overdraft charges.
In fact, consumers in the U.S. paid a total of $15 billion dollars in fees for bouncing checks or over drafting last year.
That’s according to new data released by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
The Bureau’s director says these types of fees are particularly troublesome for cash-strapped Americans.
