Proposed Comite River Diversion Canal gets land boost

BATON ROUGE - Officials who are trying to dig the proposed Comite River Diversion Canal have purchased more than 300 acres of wetlands to offset the ecological impact of the construction.The $1.5 million purchase last week is by far the largest land buy so far. While the deal represents a step forward, the canal, which has been discussed since the 1980s, is still years away, says
