Livingston Parish considering new peddlers permit

LIVINGSTON - A proposal to curtail door-to-door sales in Livingston Parish may see another round of changes before it is adopted.
The proposed ordinance would require solicitors to get a parish permit, including paying a $50 fee and getting a background check, before peddling their wares at private homes. The proposed rules also would limit the hours for those house calls and allow residents to ban them altogether by posting "No Solicitors" signs.
