Shark Tracked Off Ocean City, Maryland Coast

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A female white shark was made its way towards the coast of Ocean City Thursday afternoon.
An 8-foot, 460 pound shark was “pinged” by OCEARCH after it touched the surface near the Maryland coast.
A ping is determined when the tagged shark’s dorsal fin breaks the surface of the water then transmits a signal to a satellite overhead. Then the transmission sends back an estimated geo-location.
