Whooping cough cases spike in Kern County, around state

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The worst whooping cough outbreak in seven decades has hit California, including Kern County.

Health officials say this year, cases have dramatically peaked.

The Kern County Pubic Health Department says more cases are being reported because fewer people are getting their vaccinations.

Health officials say whooping cough cases tend to rise significantly every three to five years.
