Suspect leads CHP on short chase before crashing

BAKERSFIELD, CA- A Bakersfield man is in custody after a short chase in east Bakersfield Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says an officer tried to pull the man over for expired tags.

They say initially the pulled over before taking off.

A short chase on surface streets followed but the man lost control and hit a wall before spinning out at Dorothy and Pioneer.

The suspect attempted to run from the car but was caught in the backyard of a nearby home.
