Study shows link between unemployment and depression
NBC News - New research reveals a link between depression and unemployment among young adults.
The study from Emory University found nearly 12 percent of 18 to 25 year olds were depressed and 23-percent were unemployed. The unemployed young adults were three times more likely to be classified with depression than those who had jobs. This may be due to the stress of delaying the transition to adulthood, the stigma of being unemployed and financial struggle
