State regulators probe oil wastewater ponds in Kern oil fields

State regulators are taking a hard look at waste water disposal in Kern County's oil fields. Officials say they've found more than 200 active "produced water" ponds with no permits. Local oil representatives say they've used the ponds for decades with no problems, and thought they were following all the rules.
