Shootout in central Bakersfield leaves one dead

BAKERSFIELD, CA. - One man is dead tonight and another is in stable condition after a shootout in central Bakersfield, according to Bakersfield police officers on the scene.
Police said the shooting happened around 1:40 p.m. outside a convenience store on the corner of 8th and L Streets.     They said they had reports one of the victims tried to leave the scene in a vehicle and hit a nearby tree.      He was transported to Kern Medical Center where he was pr
