Shafter police kill 'erratic,' knife-wielding man

Shafter Police Department officers shot and killed a man Thursday after he reportedly pulled a knife and approached them in a west Shafter alley. Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith reported that officers responded to information that a man, possibly on drugs, was acting erratically in the area of West Lerdo Highway and South Wall Street near Golden Oak Elementary School.
