Report: $3 billion needed to fix Kern County roads

The money funding the current series of projects on Hwy. 58 comes from the Thomas Roads Improvement Program - federal funds earmarked for Kern County. This one-time source of funding will soon run out, and additional funding for maintenance is lacking, according to a new report commissioned by a group of local governments around the state.
