Obama looks to avoid halt on immigration plans
The Department of Justice will ask a higher court to stay a Texas judge's ruling that put on hold plans to begin carrying out President Obama's immigration orders.
The White House announced on Friday, Feb. 20 that the request for a stay will be filed by Monday at the latest in a district court.
If granted, it would set aside a ruling on Monday from a federal district judge that blocked the US government from providing deportation deferrals for about four million undocumented immigrants.
