No injuries in second riverbottom fire in a month

Members of four safety and law enforcement agencies responded Saturday afternoon to the second fire in two-and-a-half weeks to burn the dry Kern River riverbed near the North Chester Avenue bridge in Oildale.
No injuries or property damage were reported inthe blaze, which is considered suspicious in nature. It required the effort of 36 personnel and more than six hours to fully extinguish.
