Long Beach man dead after crash near Grapevine

A Long Beach man died after the car he was riding in struck a pole on Interstate 5 near the Grapevine and flipped multiple times.

It happened around 9 p.m. Monday on southbound I-5, just north of Grapevine road.

Witnesses tell the CHP, a black sedan drifted to the right shoulder, struck a pole and rolled.

The CHP says the passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected.

The 22-year-old passenger died at the scene.

The driver was taken to the hospital.
