INSIDE THE ACADEMY: Meet four academy recruits

Later this year, they'll likely graduate from the Bakersfield Police Department's current academy and join the agency as probationary officers. But for now, the academy members whose career paths The Californian is following are just four faces among 35 in the academy -- working hard to learn new skills during the day, then doing homework and equipment preparation, sometimes until nearly midnight.
