Highway 178 through canyon closed

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The California Highway Patrol and CalTrans have closed Highway 178 through the Kern River Canyon.

Rain has brought down rocks and mud onto the roadway and at least one vehicle was hit by debris according to CHP. The person was not seriously injured.

Crews estimate the road will remain closed until 10 a.m. Monday as Highway 178 is cleared.
