Grants awarded to combat homelessness

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The United Way of Kern County has awarded grants to several local organizations in an effort to fight hunger and homelessness in the area.
Organizers say a total of $240,000 in 2015 Community Impact Grants have been awarded to nine local agencies.
The grant funds are intended to focus on food and shelter programs designed to help stabalize and provide for families in need.
