Freeway dedication to be held for fallen CHP officer

BAKERSFIELD, CA - A highway dedication ceremony is set to honor a California Highway Patrol officer who died in the line of duty.On Feb. 27, 1974, Officer Gerald N. Harris was killed in a hit and run collision. He was directing traffic at the intersection of Brundage Lane at Wible Road when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver was later apprehended.Now, the State Route 99 and State Route 58 Interchange will be designated as the CHP Officer Gerald N. Harris Interchange.
