Free speech rights challenged at First Friday
BAKERSFIELD, CA - The First Friday Art Walk in June turned into a debate about the first amendment and free speech. The event draws scores into the downtown area to shop for arts and crafts from local artists, but some say the event was overshadowed last week by a street preacher and what turned into a shouting match.
Tempers flared as Nathaniel Runels stood high on a box and preached to the growing crowd.
