Former cop headed to prison

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The former BPD officer convicted of driving under the influence and hitting a woman at a gas station last April will spend 7 years, 4 months in prison.

Kristopher Carter was convicted of one count of DUI causing bodily injury.

The CHP says Carter was drunk when his truck plowed into the Shell gas station off Merle Haggard Drive, and struck Leanne Harris, 20.

According to her father, Harris is now a paraplegic.
