Fatal hit and run on Mohawk Street leads to arrest

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of hit and run after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian late Friday in the 900 block of Mohawk Street then fled the scene, the Bakersfield Police Department reported.
The accident took place shortly before 11 p.m. Friday when a pickup traveling southbound on Mohawk struck a man walking south on the street, according to a department news release.
