DUI checkpoint nets 7 arrests

BAKERSFIELD, CA- Police arrested 7 people on charges of driving under the influence Saturday night, during a checkpoint in northwest Bakersfield.

It's part of the Kern Avoid DUI Taskforce effort to reduce the number of people injured or killed in DUI crashes.

The checkpoint was held on Hageman Road, near Riverlakes Drive.

Police say they screened more than 1,100 vehicles.

Officers said 7 drivers did not have valid driver's licenses.
