After considering giving the city's police chief seven new bosses, a Bakersfield City Council committee decided against it.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Legislative and Litigation Committee of the City Council wanted to find out whether changing the city charter to give the City Council the power to hire and fire police chiefs was a good idea.
