Zilker Holiday Tree to be lit tonight

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Zilker Holiday Tree will be lit tonight in a ceremony celebrating the 51st year of the Austin tradition.
The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. by the winners of a children’s art contest, sponsored by the Austin Parks and Recreation Department.
The tree, made of a moonlight tower, is 155 feet tall. Earlier this month, Austin Energy crews strung 3,159 red, yellow, green and blue lights onto the tower.
