Widespread rain ahead of drier, milder weekend

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin tallied its heaviest one-day rainfall event since Aug. 22, with 1.97" of rain on Thursday. A daily rainfall record of 1.85" fell at the Austin-Bergstrom airport. Occasional rain and thunderstorms continue overnight and through the day Friday.
