Victim in deadly crash with garbage truck identified

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 21-year-old man who died in a crash with a garbage truck in North Austin on Wednesday has been identified by the office of the medical examiner.
Spencer Salomon Monroe, of Austin, was driving a Honda Civic when he crashed into the back of a garbage truck owned by a private company. The truck was picking up trash at around 3:20 a.m. near the intersection of Koenig Lane and Woodrow Avenue when the crash happened.
Police say Monroe died at the scene.
