Trial date to be announced for murder of UT student Haruka Weiser

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An update to the high profile University of Texas murder is expected on Thursday.
Austin police say Meechaiel Criner killed UT freshman Haruka Weiser in April. Attorneys say they will determine when the case will go to trial.
Criner’s attorney, Ariel Payan, tells KXAN Criner will not be in court on Thursday. Payan says a trial date is expected to be set as well as an update on Criner’s mental evaluation.
