Travis County approves electronic tablets for jail inmates

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Travis County Commissioners Court approved tablet use for Travis County Jail inmates Tuesday morning.
For decades Travis County has contracted with Securus Technology for phone and video services. Now the company is throwing in hundreds of tablets free of charge for now but leaving the door open to charge for services down the road.
