Tonight could be the coldest in seven years as winter storm pulls away

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of Central Texas until 9 p.m. A Winter Storm Warning is also in effect in Fayette County until 9 p.m. and a Hard Freeze Warning is now in effect for Lampasas and Milam counties until 10 a.m. More Hard Freeze Warnings are expected after 9 p.m. area-wide as other winter weather watches and warnings expire. As much as a quarter of an inch of ice has accumulated on roads and grassy surfaces, but precipitation has moved out.
