Texas Senate holds emergency hearing on abused and neglected children

AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than 500 children at the highest risk of abuse and neglect were not seen by Child Protective Services so far this year in Texas. Another 1,800 kids were seen too late according to state law.
The Department of Family and Protective Services is asking for an extra $500 million to hire more than 800 new employees, 550 of those would go to new front-line CPS caseworkers and investigators.
