Texas DPS trooper shot and killed in Freestone County

FREESTONE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper has been shot and killed in Freestone County, the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management confirmed in a tweet Thursday afternoon.
KXAS reports it happened about 4 p.m. south of Fairfield on Interstate 45, citing Navarro County EMS.
Authorities say the gunman is Darbrett Black, who is currently at large. Freestone County is about 90 minutes southeast of Dallas.
