Texas announces first detected case of omicron variant in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Officials in Harris County confirmed on Monday evening Texas' first detected case of the omicron variant of COVID-19.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo posted to social media the variant was found in a woman in her 40s from the northwest part of the county. She had no recent travel history.Fauci encouraged that omicron doesn’t appear to be more severe"The best way to protect ourselves and our community from this virus is to get vaccinated & boosted,"
