State’s body camera grant program nearing completion

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A state grant program has awarded $8.2 million to law enforcement agencies large and small for body cameras. Now, there’s only about $1.8 million left to award, according to the governor’s office.
More than 120 police departments, including constables, sheriff’s offices and school district police, have received funding for body cameras, including 10 departments in Central Texas. The matching funds are being spent on cameras and storage equipment.
