Salvation Army bell ringer finds gold bar in red kettle

CALDWELL, Idaho (KXAN/KTVB) — A Salvation Army bell ringer in Idaho collected more than just a few dollars on Monday. When he opened up the red kettle, he discovered someone had dropped in a gold bar, along with the coins and cash.
The one-ounce bar of solid gold is worth more than $1,200. The Salvation Army in Caldwell, Idaho, plans to get it appraised and then trade it in for cash that can go toward their charity.
