Report: Requests for abortion pills spike following SB 8 passage in Texas
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KXAN) — A report published by the Journal of the American Medical Association and led by a University of Texas at Austin researcher shows a significant increase in Texans requesting abortion pills since SB 8 went into effect.
Senate Bill 8, known as the Texas heartbeat bill, prohibits abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected. Fetal heartbeats can be detected as early as six weeks into a pregnancy before most women even know they are pregnant.RELATED: Texas lawmakers
